An investigator from the Air Accident Investigation Branch examines a light aircraft in a field next to a grass airstrip at Ladthwaite near Kirkby Stephen. The aircraft crashed on Thursday night killing the pilot David George Watt:6 May 2011

The dinosaur on platform five. a life like animatronic T-Rex dinosaur paid a visit to Carlisle Railway station. The photocall was to launch the Dinosaur exhibition at Whitehaven’s Beacon Museum and their partnership Northern Rail.  Pupils from Brook Street School, Carlisle are chased by the T-Rex: 29 June 2011

A multi agency search and rescue training exercise at West Beach, Silloth. The exercise is based around an aircraft crash. To give the exercise some realism simulated casulaties were used and pieces of aircraft wreckage were on the beach. The agencies taking part were H M Coastguard, Cumbria Fire and Rescue, RNLI Lifeboats, <aryport Inshore Rescue, Ambulance service with Doctors from BASICS and a RAF Sea King Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopter from RAF Boulmer: 4 September 2011

A new musical interactive trail has opened in Bitt Park Carlisle. Various stainless steel instruments are dotted around the park that visitors can get a tune from. Ben Gates (left) the artist who created the pieces blows into the item as  Dieter Wadeson hears the resulting sound: 9 December 2011
